As the fiscal year comes to a close, we here at NAMI Pomona Valley are looking forward to the new year and all of the promise that it brings. For the last 19 years our organization has provided critical supportive mental health services to the Pomona Valley community in the form of free classes, support groups, school presentations, helpline and more. We are able to operate this way by securing our operating budget through donations. This year’s goal is $17,000 which covers the bare minimum costs to continue providing the same level and quality of services to date. At this time we have secured 30% of our goal through your generous donations and we can’t thank you enough for your continued support!
Our largest fundraising event is NAMI Walks and the ability to donate to this past event is still available until July 22! If every NAMI Pomona Valley member donated $20 we would raise enough to support a family’s participation in one of our classes. If each recipient on our contact list donated $5 it would raise eleven times that amount and support that many more families! Additional program costs are as follows:
- $25 – allows one person to attend a Peer-to-Peer support group
- $50 – covers the cost of one person to attend Mental Health First Aid
- $150 – provides one Ending the Silence program for students
- $500 – allows one family to attend Family-to-Family class, where they learn from peers how to care for their loved one who lives with a mental health challenge, as well as themselves.
We are able to provide our services for free on our limited budget thanks our two dedicated staff members and team of volunteers. We would love to not only meet our goal but exceed it to create room for more opportunities and help more people within the Pomona Valley community. Please say that you’ll help us by donating online through our official NAMI Pomona Valley SUPER Team page, or by checks made out to: NAMI Walks Los Angeles County and mailed to 3600 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 1804, Los Angeles, CA 90010. Be sure to include NAMI Pomona Valley in the memo line so that the funds are allocated to our affiliate! Thank you again for your continued support; we look forward to smashing our fundraising thermometer and providing another year of community-based mental health services!
