Suffering from severe mental illnesses or supporting those who do can often feel helpless, like you’re in this fight alone. Not only do we need support on the ground to help us through difficult episodes, but we really could use a culturally competent and condition-aware system that will actually help us. Right now California legislature is considering bills SB1338 and AB2830 that form the Community Assistance, Recovery & Empowerment court, or C.A.R.E. court. The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario is not only a local professional basketball team but also an active fixture in the community. The team regularly recognizes residents doing amazing things and honors them at a home game as “Hometown Heroes.” Our very own Kyoni Cummings has been recognized by the Clippers! NAMI Walks Los Angeles County, a United Day of Hope was May 21st! NAMIWalks is a once-a-year fund and awareness raising opportunity in the form of a 5k walk and community celebration. The 2022 Walk took place at Grand Park in Los Angeles and served as largest mental health walk in the greater Los Angeles area.
